Ποιοί είναι οι Lee & Seema?
Οι Lee & Seema μας έρχονται από τον μακρυνό Βορρά, το πανέμορφο Εδιμβούργο (Σκωτία). Εχουν κυριολεκτικά αφιερώσει τη ζωή τους στο χορό και τη μουσική swing τα τελευταία 15 χρόνια. Τα κύρια στύλ χορού τους είναι τα
Savoy Lindy Hop,
Jitterbug,
1920’s Charleston και
Collegiate Shag.
Οι Lee & Seema, μαζί με τους ‘Swing Doctors’, υπήρξαν για χρόνια οι βασικοί δάσκαλοι των Ben & Joss στο Εδιμβούργο. Οι Lee & Seema έχουν διδαχθεί από τους καλύτερους Jazz και Swing καθηγητές χορού στον κόσμο, και οι ίδιοι είναι υποστηρικτές του αυθεντικού Savoy Lindy Hop στυλ του 1930. Στα σεμινάρια τους πάντα προσπαθούν να μεταδώσουν τη γνώση τους για την ιστορία του Savoy Lindy Hop, καθώς μοιράζονται την εμπειρία και τον ενθουσιασμό τους για αυτό το χορό και μουσική δίνοντας ιδιαίτερη έμφαση στη διασκέδαση!
Οι Lee & Seema διδάσκουν τακτικά σε πολλές ομάδες χορού συμπεριλαμβανομένων των:
Edinburgh Swing Dance Society (ESDS),
Flyright Dance Company και
Edinbop εντός του Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου και είναι επίσης περήφανα μέλη των
Athens Swing Cats. Ο Lee πρόσφατα ξεκίνησε μια σειρά σεμιναρίων στο Chennai της Ινδίας με σκοπό τη διδασκαλία και διάδωση του Savoy Lindy Hop και Charleston σε τοπικές ενθουσιώδης ομάδες χορού.
Οι Lee & Seema εμφανίζονται συχνά σε παραστάσεις με τη
Flyright Dance Company καθώς και ανεξάρτητα σε διάφορα μεγάλα δρώμενα όπως στο
Edinburgh Night Afore Dance Celebrations, στο
Glasgow Jazz Festival, στο
RAF Leuchars Air Show και σε ότι σχετικό με το Δεύτερο Παγκόσμιο Πόλεμο, όπως το
Stirling Castle 1940, διοργανώνει η Historic Scotland.
Το ενδιαφέρον τους σχετικά με το 1930-50’s Swing, Jump Jive and Rhythm ‘n’ Blues προ-υπήρχε της χορευτικής τους καριέρας. Ο Lee έπαιζε για πολλά χρόνια Slap Bass σε πολλές και αρκετά γνωστές Rock ‘n’ Roll μπάντες. O Lee αλλά κι η Seema είναι φανατικοί συλλέκτες vintage αντικειμένων, ρούχων και μουσικής από αυτήν την εποχή. Τέλος, έχουν το δικό τους vintage music and dance club, το
Jump Time, κάθε μήνα στο “The Merlin” στο Εδιμβούργο.
Lee and Seema are based in Edinburgh and have been swing dancing for more than a decade. Their main styles are
Savoy Lindy Hop,
Jitterbug,
1920’s Charleston and
Collegiate Shag.
Lee and Seema, next to the ‘Swing Doctors’ have been the main teachers of Ben & Joss for many years.Lee and Seema have been taught by some of the finest swing dance teachers in the world over the years and are advocates of authentic 1930’s Lindy styling. They immerse themselves in the history of the dance and pass on their knowledge, experience and enthusiasm in their workshops - with an emphasis on fun!
Lee and Seema teach regularly for a number of dance groups including the
Edinburgh Swing Dance Society (ESDS), the
Flyright Dance Company and
Edinbop within the UK and are also proud member’s of the
Athens Swing Cats.
Lee has recently taken a series of workshops in Chennai, India – introducing Lindy and Charleston to enthusiastic local dance groups.
Lee and Seema perform with the
Flyright Dance Company as well as independently at events such as the
Edinburgh Night Afore Dance celebrations, the
Glasgow Jazz Festival,
RAF Leuchars Air Show or at Historic Scotland events such as “
Stirling Castle 1940”.
Their interest in 1930-50’s Swing, Jump Jive and Rhythm ‘n’ Blues precedes their dance careers. As a “youngster” Lee played Slap Bass in a number of Rock ‘n’ Roll bands and both Lee and Seema are avid collectors of vintage fashion and music from this period. They run their vintage music and dance club “
Jump Time”, every month at “The Merlin” in Edinburgh.
